North Valley Symphony Orchestra (NVSO) is comprised of adult musicians from all walks of life: teachers, engineers, pilots, policemen, healthcare, labor and management. We share one common goal: the pursuit of exceptional live music performance. The orchestra also invites exceptional North Valley Youth Orchestra members to participate. All members are volunteers, and must audition for the orchestra to be accepted. That said, we recognize that we are not a professional orchestra, and the community spirit and camaraderie in our group is very positive and accepting.

If you have a passion to perform great music, can attend weekly rehearsals, and are willing to commit to the necessary practice, we want you in our orchestra!!

Rehearsals for the 2024-25 concert season will resume on Mondays beginning August 19, 2024 from 7:00-9:15

2024-25 Concert Season:

The season will include 4 major concerts with the overall season theme of “A Night Out with NVSO”. The venue will most likely be North Canyon HS PAC, 1700 East Union Hills Dr, Phoenix, AZ, 85024. Specific dates are still TBA:
October 2024 - “A Night in Italy”
December 2024 - “A Night Before Christmas”
March 2025 - “A Night at the Classics”
May 2025 - “A Night at the Museum”

Auditions: 

  • Auditions for any principal seat will be held in person and are by appointment. Call or email for an appointment date and time. Principal audition dates are:

    Saturday, June 8, 12:00-4:00
    Sunday, June 23, 1:00-4:00

  • Auditions for section seats are held via video submission.

  • The audition deadline for section members for the 2024-25 concert season is August 5, 2024. Auditions between concert cycles during the season will be on a case by case basis.

  • Once you have downloaded and printed the Video Audition Instructions, and prepared your audition to include your chosen solo, please record a video of your audition, and upload it by following the “Upload Adult Audition” link.

About Community Health:
NVSO follows current CDC guidelines for rehearsals and concerts. Currently COVID-19 is still a concern, but there are no CDC restrictions or mandates in place. Other contagious diseases offer equal concern.

Each NVSO participant is individually responsible to take the precautions appropriate for their specific vaccination and general health status.

  • Stay home if you are sick

  • Wash your hands and face often

  • Wearing a mask reduces transmission rates - consider wearing one when you are able, especially if you are at risk

  • Woodwind and brass players should avoid spreading aerosols or saliva by using common sense seating, and blotters for emptying condensation

  • NVSO will continue to have hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and face masks available at all events
